If you live in southern Brevard, this week's rain was one for the books. The National Weather Service called it a "one in a 1,000-year event", with 23.69 inches in North Grant-Valkaria. Palm Bay officials confirmed two storm-related deaths: 34-year-old Joshua Bennett and 78-year-old Archie Richards.
Sheriff's deputies and Florida Fish and Wildlife officers rescued more than 160 people Monday, and Palm Bay Mayor Rob Medina said the city saw 20 inches of rain over 14 hours. Now that water is dropping, crews are finding sinkholes and washed-out roads. Medina said the city will release emergency funding from its own budget.

We suggest staying out of standing water, even where it looks shallow: washed-out pavement can hide underneath.
- Palm Bay Estates: 80 to 100 people live beyond the washout
- State of emergency: Gov. Ron DeSantis declared one covering Brevard
- Shelter in place: Palm Bay advisory ran Monday through Tuesday
