- ➤ Manatee deaths have risen in Florida as Brevard County saw 109 fatalities and Volusia County 31 so far this year, according to the Save the Manatee Club. Dr. Patrick Rose said boating collisions (up nearly 100 from last year) and unknown causes are driving the increase, and rescue teams continue to help injured animals (26 saved from boating incidents so far). - ➤ A proposal to rename Cypress Avenue (from Eau Gallie Boulevard to Orange Street) as Charlie Kirk Lane failed to pass at a Melbourne city council meeting on Wednesday.
