- ➤ Local agencies freed a manatee trapped in a stormwater baffle box beneath a Melbourne Beach road (rescue completed on Tuesday, Feb. 10) after a coordinated effort. Florida Today
- ➤ A University of Florida study finds that two invasive termite species, including one already seen in Melbourne, are expanding their range across Florida by mid-century. Homeowners are advised to remove wood near homes and fix drainage to help prevent infestations. Florida Today

- ➤ Airman Leadership School at Patrick Space Force Base held a training exercise at Malabar on Feb. 5 to test decision-making and mission command skills under pressure. - ➤ Florida lawmakers are reviewing a new bill (HB 389) today that would ban smoking and vaping in public areas and indoor workplaces to reduce exposure to secondhand smoke and vapor. The proposal will be debated in committees soon and aims to protect community health. Space Coast Daily
