About this event
Midnight Sun Birding in Iceland Presented by Susan Petracco Journey to the land of the midnight sun for a birding adventure through Iceland's dramatic landscapes, rugged coastlines, and remarkable wildlife habitats. Susan will share highlights of her travels across this extraordinary island nation, where summer's extended daylight provides exceptional opportunities for birdwatching and exploration. From the volcanic island of Heimaey to the coastal cliffs of Dyrhólaey and the bustling puffin colony at Hafnarhólmi, discover some of Iceland's most memorable birding destinations. Susan will share her encounters with Iceland's iconic Atlantic Puffins, introduce other fascinating bird species observed along the way, and highlight additional locations renowned for their seabird colonies. Beyond the birds, explore Iceland's diverse wildlife, including Arctic foxes, reindeer, seals, and whales, along with its famous Icelandic horses and sheep. Through photographs and stories from her journey, Susan will showcase the country's breathtaking scenery, unique natural history, and some of the conservation challenges facing its ecosystems, including invasive species. Whether you're an avid birder, a nature enthusiast, or simply curious about Iceland's wild beauty, this presentation offers an opportunity to experience one of the world's most captivating birding destinations.
