  • The VanFest Van Life Expo will take place in Viera Feb. 7-8. Visitors can explore over a hundred custom vans, skoolies, buses, and off-grid builds, enjoy live music, and sample offerings from local food trucks.  Space Coast Daily
  • Fire departments across the region are rallying behind former Titusville firefighter Jeff Trafton as his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter undergoes cancer treatment. Community donations can be made online or at Satellite Beach Fire Department + support eases the family's burden during this challenging time.  Space Coast Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • Starting in February 2026, the Space Coast Fruit Festival Pageants—with free advanced registration—will offer crowns for girls and women in several age categories at the Key Lime Pie Festival on Feb. 21-22 + the Strawberry Festival on April 11-12, held at Space Coast Daily Park in Melbourne.  Space Coast Daily
  • Town historians Frank Thomas and Bruce Morgan will lead a walking history tour of Old Melbourne Beach on New Year’s Day starting at 10:00 a.m. The tour, which compares century-old photos with present-day structures, begins at the Pier on Ocean Avenue (call 321-609-7635 for details).  City of Melbourne Beach

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State leaders will invest $93.4 million to boost Space Coast infrastructure including spaceport operations and transportation networks after achieving 109 launches in 2025. The funding (part of Governor Ron DeSantis’ Floridians First budget) aims to keep Florida a top hub for space innovation.  Space Coast Daily
  • The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy will take place on Jan. 26 (offering residents a behind-the-scenes look at SWAT, the Bomb Squad, Aviation and other units). Spots are limited, so register soon to secure a place.  Space Coast Daily

SPORTS NEWS

  • Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will begin the Lady Jets Holiday Classic in Americus, Georgia today at 6 p.m. against Southern Union State Community College (the team is 4-7) and will play additional games on Tuesday and Wednesday before returning to conference play on Jan. 3.  Space Coast Daily
  • Fans can vote to select the top midseason FHSAA boys soccer team until Jan. 2 as the season continues, with district tournaments starting Jan. 20 and a championship between Melbourne and Merritt Island scheduled for Jan. 13.  Florida Today
