- ➤ Brevard County was under a flood watch yesterday after heavy rain (up to 14 inches in six hours) flooded roads, stalled cars and allowed water to enter homes in Titusville and North Merritt Island. The National Weather Service and local officials advised residents to follow safety tips (such as avoiding flood water) during these dangerous conditions. Florida Today
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ NASA reopened the lunar lander contract competition as it sought new options beyond SpaceX's Starship to return astronauts to the moon—Blue Origin may have also entered the race. A SpaceX rocket launch for the SpainSat mission was delayed until Oct. 23 and another launch from Cape Canaveral occurred on Oct. 26. Florida Today

- ➤ Voting is open at 321preps.com & floridatoday.com for the PuroClean of Melbourne Girls Athlete of the Week, honoring athletes for their performances from Oct. 20-25, and it will end at noon on Oct. 30.
