  • The 40th Annual Space Coast State Fair will run from Oct. 30 to Nov. 16 at Space Coast Daily Park in Viera & will feature unlimited rides, a monster truck ride add-on, nine free shows, and family-friendly food and vendor exhibits. Organizers also invite local vendors to apply for booths as part of Brevard County’s largest annual event.  Space Coast Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • Every day, many drivers cross the Hubert H. Humphrey Bridge to travel between Cocoa Beach and Merritt Island; older bridges like a wooden toll bridge and a 1917 concrete span once served this route. The bridge stands as a reminder of Brevard County’s growth during the space race—its history shows how early road work shaped our community.  Space Coast Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Melbourne’s Parks, Recreation and Golf Department earned national accreditation from CAPRA after meeting 154 strict standards at the NRPA Annual Conference in Orlando on September 17—this honor shows the department’s commitment to high-quality public services.  Space Coast Daily
  • The Environmental Advisory Board will meet next Wednesday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Center on Ocean Avenue — the meeting will run until 11:59 p.m. and provide a forum on local environmental topics.  City of Melbourne Beach
  • The Palm Bay Police Department will host two fundraising events on Oct.4—a golf tournament at Crane Creek Golf Course and a community meal at The American Legion—to support its SWAT team; teams for the tournament can register by calling 321-403-2547.  Space Coast Daily

  • Dr. Mike Ronsisvalle talked about mental health trends and how LiveWell Behavioral Health helps people get and stay healthy during his interview with Space Coast Daily. SPORTS NEWS

  • Week 5 of the Brevard County prep football season featured narrow victories, heavy losses, and an upset as local teams battled hard—Melbourne Bulldogs improved to 4-1 by beating Palm Bay 59—14 while many prepare for district play in the coming weeks.  Space Coast Daily
  • Ethan Holt of Merritt Island returned a St. Cloud pass (60 yards) and gave the Mustangs a win (in the fourth quarter) over the Bulldogs.  Florida Today
