  • Eight-year-old Kennedy Strait from Melbourne uses her Tiny Miss title to spread kindness by creating over 200 bookmarks for Comfort Cases and delivering donations to children’s charities—she also helps distribute crocheted hearts for mental health and takes part in the Peyton Heart Project. Her efforts earned her a proclamation at the State Capitol and congratulatory letters from state leaders, showing that even young children can make a difference.  Space Coast Daily
  • On Saturday, September 6, 48 veterans returned from a Washington tour via Space Coast Honor Flight and were warmly welcomed at Melbourne Orlando International Airport by hundreds lining the terminal route—veterans from the Korean War, Vietnam War, and later conflicts received letters and gestures of thanks as their flight, chartered by Allegiant Air, cut travel time by at least four hours. The event highlighted a new approach that helped reduce long bus rides and offered veterans a more efficient return home.  Florida Today

  • The National Weather Service said a weak tornado touched down Sunday afternoon in Palm Bay, uprooting a tree and damaging a home—photos showed damage to a fence, shed and roof.  FOX 35 Orlando

CRIME NEWS

  • Two men in Brevard County were indicted for murder for selling fentanyl that led to fatal overdoses, with police linking one suspect to a Palm Bay death using texts and video and linking the other to a Cocoa hotel death using surveillance footage.  Space Coast Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Brevard Veterans Memorial Center in partnership with Disabled American Veterans Chapter 32 will host a 9/11 Remembrance event on September 10 at the Eau Gallie Civic Center in Melbourne — the free event will run from 5 to 7:30 p.m., featuring food at 5, a ceremony at 6 with guest speakers, raffles, and a military art auction to support local veterans.  Space Coast Daily

  • On Friday night, the Eau Gallie Commodores fended off the Heritage Panthers in a close week 3 football game—video highlights reveal near upset moments and key plays.  Florida Today
  • Rockledge High graduate Raheim Sanders scored his first NFL touchdown on Sept. 7, 2025 at 12:42 when his one-yard run tied the game at 7 all for the Cleveland Browns in a 17 to 16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.  Florida Today
