- ➤ SpaceX will launch a Falcon 9 rocket carrying Starlink satellites from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral on Sunday, Aug. 31 between 7:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. ET — residents in nearby Melbourne may see the lift-off if weather permits. Florida Today
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ SpaceX has proposed a plan to increase rocket launches and landings at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Kennedy Space Center—76 launches and 152 landings at Cape Canaveral with 44 launches and up to 88 landings at Kennedy. The FAA will review the proposal in a virtual meeting next Wednesday at 6 p.m. WFTV 9
- ➤ Brevard County officials said Evans Road in Melbourne will stay closed until early November because a temporary fix did not meet repair needs after it closed on August 22—detour signs guide southbound traffic along Hibiscus Boulevard to Dairy Road and northbound drivers via U.S. 192 to Dairy Road. - ➤ Melbourne water customers no longer need to boil their water after the City of Melbourne lifted the notice issued on August 28 following a bacteriological survey that found no E. coli—confirming the water is safe to drink. Hometown News
