- ➤ On Aug. 19, Melbourne began installing one of the largest baffle boxes at Apollo Boulevard across from the Embraer Aircraft Assembly Plant to treat stormwater runoff from an 854-acre drainage basin and remove pollutants like nitrogen and phosphorus. The $2,103,474 project is funded by state grants, a county surtax (approved in 2016) and the city’s stormwater utility fund. Hometown News

- ➤ A Florida Citrus Smoothie recipe has been shared for locals who want a refreshing drink using a peeled Florida orange, a Key lime, half a banana, lemon juice, yogurt and a liquid (water, juice, milk or dairy-free milk). - ➤ Standout basketball player Lynisha Nelson joined her brother—former All-Pro Reggie Nelson—in the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame, making them the first siblings to be inducted. Nelson set records at Florida Tech and later served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard. Space Coast Daily
- ➤ Today, Brevard County high school sports will feature volleyball, golf, football, bowling, and swimming as games run through August 30—local teams, including those from Melbourne and Cocoa Beach, are scheduled to play at set times.
