ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Today at about 5 p.m., lightning sparked a brush fire in Micco that threatened manufactured homes near Micco Road and Flemming Grant Road as crews from Brevard County Fire Rescue, Palm Bay Fire Rescue, Malabar Fire Department, and the Florida Forest Service responded while residents evacuated and hosed down roofs, with firefighters reporting the incident was 80 percent contained by 9 p.m. — crews will remain overnight to address hot spots. - ➤ On Thursday, a brush fire sparked by lightning spread over 15 acres in Micco as fire crews raced to protect homes—by Friday the blaze was contained while residents near Cherish Drive in River Grove evacuated to avoid damage. News 6

- ➤ SpaceX will attempt to launch a resupply mission to the International Space Station tomorrow at 2:45 a.m. from Cape Canaveral's Space Launch Complex 40 & will use a backup launch on Monday at 2:22 a.m. if needed. The Dragon spacecraft will dock with the station on Monday at about 7:30 a.m. ET after a 28-hour flight. News 6

- ➤ Hurricane Erin is causing dangerous surf and strong rip currents along Florida’s East Coast beaches as it is expected to become post-tropical today—ocean waves may reach up to 11 feet and cause minor coastal flooding near high tide. FOX 35 Orlando
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Health First’s Viera Hospital earned its third straight CMS 5-Star rating, making it one of only 10 hospitals in Florida and the only one in Brevard County to receive this honor. The hospital will soon begin expansion projects—such as adding 20 inpatient beds and upgrading operating and imaging services—to better serve local patients. Space Coast Daily
- ➤ Health First’s Viera Hospital earned its third straight CMS 5-star rating and is one of only 10 hospitals in Florida with this honor (the only one in Brevard County) as it handles more patients after a nearby hospital closed. The hospital will add new inpatient beds by spring, expand its operating suite by December, start advanced heart rhythm care in September, and open a freestanding emergency department in Rockledge by the end of 2026.
