  • The Melbourne and Palm Bay Fire Departments celebrated graduates from Eastern Florida State College's Paramedic Program, where they completed months of intensive classroom instruction, hands-on training, and clinical experience — the new skills will boost emergency medical services in the community.  Space Coast Daily

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 71-year-old man riding an electric bicycle died on August 16th after colliding with a Honda Accord near US 1 and Kings Highway in Titusville at about 8:17 p.m.—officials said the Accord driver remained on scene as southbound lanes were briefly blocked.  FOX 35 Orlando

CRIME NEWS

  • Merritt Island man Cameron T. Michaels, 26, was sentenced to 60 days in jail — after he crashed his speedboat during the Christmas Boat Parade on Sykes Creek in December 2024 — and he must pay restitution and serve one year probation that bans him from boating.  Space Coast Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Brevard County Sheriff's Office released a ride-along video called '10-94' that shows the daily work of police and fire rescue teams. The video is part of their plan to engage the community in public safety careers.  Space Coast Daily

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health First’s facility dog Jammer leads a team of therapy dogs that visit hospitals across Brevard County to offer comfort to patients, families and staff. Jammer can perform more than 45 tasks like opening doors and turning on lights and adds a calming presence in critical moments—providing much-needed emotional relief.  Space Coast Daily
  • Accelerate Brevard: Chamber of Innovation will host the free Space Coast Health & Wellness Expo in Rockledge on August 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Space Coast Health Foundation (1100 Rockledge Blvd) where expert speakers and live demonstrations will offer wellness guidance.  Space Coast Daily

  • Eastern Florida State College’s men and women’s cross country teams are getting ready for a new season; the women’s team, with three returning runners, will start on Sept 12 in Huntsville and compete in the Region 8 Meet on Oct 24 in Tallahassee, while the men’s team, coming off a Region 8 win, will begin on Sept 12 in Huntsville, run meets in Tallahassee on Sept 26 and Fort Myers on Oct 10, and aim to reach the NJCAA Division II National Championships on November 8.  Space Coast Daily
