  • The National Hurricane Center said no tropical system will form in the next seven days, and AccuWeather said a storm may develop off the east coast early next week—warm water and high heat will boost tropical activity from mid-August with the next named storm, Dexter, expected by Aug. 15. Local forecasters urge residents to stay prepared as conditions set the stage for increased tropical development.  Florida Today

  • Health First's Holmes Regional Medical Center has been named by U.S. News World Report as a 2025-2026 Best Hospital, ranking No.—1 in Brevard County and No.—24 in the state; it earned high performance marks in 11 specialties while Health First’s Viera Hospital received recognition for hip replacement.  Hometown News
  • A recent report from the University of Florida advises that residents in the heat consume about 11 cups for women and 15 cups for men daily—adjusting for body weight and activity level—to stay properly hydrated. Experts warn that drinking early and including water-rich foods can help avoid dehydration, as 66 counties were under heat advisories on July 31.  Florida Today
  • Emily Dailey’s family started a nonprofit after she died by suicide in January, and they will hold a Dance-A-Thon tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m. at Pineapples EGAD on Pineapple Ave in Melbourne to support mental health education for young people – a tribute to her lifelong passion for dance.  Florida Today
