- ➤ U.S. Senator Ashley Moody announced Friday that new federal rules now let spaceport bonds be treated as tax-exempt private activity bonds — a change designed to lower borrowing costs and boost private investment on the Space Coast. She held her news conference in Merritt Island with industry leaders including Space Florida’s CEO Rob Long, Embry-Riddle’s president Barry Butler, and UCF’s provost Greg Autry, who said the move will help create more aerospace jobs and spur innovation. - ➤ May Tourist Development Tax collections reached $2.173 million, marking a 6.5% increase from May last year and an 11.7% rise from May 2023 — only the second time the $2 million mark has been exceeded in May.
