ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • FHP reported that a fatal collision occurred Thursday morning when a car driven by a 90-year-old motorist (who said they had a green light) struck a 77-year-old bicyclist at the intersection of North Wickham Road and Stadium Parkway, leading to a temporary closure as investigators examined the scene.  Space Coast Daily

  • Jeff Abramowski, a Melbourne man, spent over 20 years in prison after being convicted for a murder he did not commit and his 23-year quest for freedom continues as he fights to clear his name.  Florida Today

  • Colleen Middlebrooks will serve as the new Executive Director of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation effective July 30—after an extensive nationwide search—and she comes with over 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience from her role as Vice President of Development at the Astronauts Memorial Foundation. She will now lead efforts to support STEM education and honor America's space pioneers.  Space Coast Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Brevard Zoo welcomed an 11-year-old jaguar named Khan from Birmingham Zoo to help conserve near-threatened jaguars—he is now adjusting to his new habitat. Khan will be paired with new addition Lua once he acclimates—setting up a controlled introduction for zoo visitors.  FOX 35 Orlando

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NASA and SpaceX are getting ready to send Crew-11 from Florida's Space Coast as soon as July 31 (part of the Commercial Crew Program) to the International Space Station in a mission marking 25 years of people living and working in space. The four crew members, including two NASA astronauts, a Japanese astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut, are finishing training and final checks ahead of launch.  FOX 35 Orlando
