- ➤ In June, the Indian River Colony Club Foundation in Viera gave Patriot Service Dogs a $5,000 grant to match trained service dogs with veterans facing challenges like PTSD. The grant also will fund a free online class—Service Dog 101—to guide veterans in learning how to best care for their service dogs. Space Coast Daily
- ➤ Brevard County Sheriff's Animal Care Center is asking local community members to volunteer as Adoption Ambassadors to temporarily foster dogs in need, giving the animals a safe home while the center covers all medical care and monthly preventatives (volunteers also receive regular guidance) to ease shelter crowding. - ➤ The Melbourne Police Department responded near Masterson Street today at 4:30 p.m. after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Brightline train—investigators are treating the incident as a suicide. Space Coast Daily

- ➤ State Attorney Will Scheiner announced Monday afternoon that all murder charges have been dropped against 64-year-old Jeff Abramowski after new DNA evidence and loss of key witnesses left his conviction unproven — Abramowski, who was freed from detention on April 3, now lives with his daughter in Palm Bay and plans to address his medical issues before choosing his next steps. - ➤ Brevard Public Schools earned an A rating from the state of Florida for the second consecutive year—67% of its schools earned an A or B—and several schools improved their scores in subjects like English and math, with Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell praising the district’s dedication.
