CRIME NEWS

  • A 29-year-old driver crashed his Mazda3 into pedestrians on I-95 near mile marker 193 in Viera Tuesday night, injuring multiple people including one who may need a leg amputation — he faces charges for DUI causing serious bodily harm and reckless driving while being released on a $22,000 bond.  Space Coast Daily
  • A 22-year-old man turned himself in on July 4 and now faces attempted murder and aggravated assault charges after a July 3 West Melbourne shooting — police say surveillance footage helped identify him as shots were fired near South Wickham Road and Coral Drive.  Florida Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team was named the FCSAA Small Male Academic Team of the Year for small programs after finishing the year with a team GPA of 3.35, as voted by the Council for Athletic Affairs' Executive Board. The Titans competed in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Florence and finished sixth nationwide.  Space Coast Daily

  • This holiday weekend, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission reminds beachgoers to give nesting sea turtles & shorebirds plenty of space by keeping beaches dark, clean, and free of fireworks, trash & pets.
