  • Police in West Melbourne said that Abner Manuel Pagan Otero, 22, turned himself in after being accused of shooting a victim near South Wickham Road and Coral Drive—detectives used local surveillance footage to confirm his identity.  News 6
  • Two Rockledge restaurant owners, Dongdong Ye and Mei Mei Dong, are accused of running a multi-state gift card scam that tricked elderly victims—such as a 76-year-old from Wisconsin who sent $10,000 and an 85-year-old in Michigan who wired $75,000—as investigations continue in Brevard County while they remain on bond with a hearing scheduled for next week and Da Sushi by the Aldi stays open.  News 6
  • A Florida couple who own a sushi restaurant in Rockledge has been accused of scamming seniors out of thousands of dollars across multiple states and was arrested in late June by Brevard County deputies; they are set to appear in court in Wisconsin for theft and false representation charges.  WFTV 9

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Apartment rental prices in Brevard County increased slightly in June as the average rose 0.5% from $1,437 in May to $1,444—one-bedroom listings moved from $1,202 to $1,208 while two-bedroom listings went from $1,349 to $1,356. The data does not include single family homes and shows local rents remain below state averages while being 3% above the national average.  Florida Today

  • In May, the Space Coast real estate market saw steady single-family home prices at $375,000 and a 21% rise in inventory as cash sales increased 11% while sellers adjusted pricing strategies (showing buyer interest).
