- ➤ Melbourne Beach Volunteer Firefighters Association will host its annual 4th of July Party in the Park at Ryckman Park on July 4—featuring live music, food trucks and an adult beverage truck with bands performing from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the volunteer firefighters. - ➤ The Melbourne Fire Department warns that sparklers are fireworks burning at 2,000 degrees and must be handled with caution (only one sparkler at a time under adult supervision) to prevent burns; residents should use them outdoors (and soak spent sparklers in water) for a safe 4th of July celebration. - ➤ Four people were rescued from a burning sailboat off Cape Canaveral Saturday afternoon when a Good Samaritan's boat and sheriff's crews helped them reach shore (the Coast Guard is investigating the fire's cause) (passenger details were not released). Florida Today

- ➤ Jeffrey Lugo Clavell was arrested in Brevard County after being pulled for driving 90 mph on SR-528 near Port Canaveral—officers found a backpack with a digital scale showing cocaine residue and a cigarette pack with cocaine under the seat, and he is held on a $3,500 bond for driving with a suspended license and drug charges.
