- ➤ Thomas Gaffney, 59, of Melbourne was sentenced to five years in federal prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud after pleading guilty on January 23 for an investment fraud scheme that used false advertisements to promise a 12% annual return on funds for private business loans—he forfeited $487,750 used on personal expenses including cruises, jewelry, and costs for a pizza restaurant he helped operate.
