ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two construction workers died in a crane collapse at a Gilbane Building site in Merritt Island on Wednesday when high winds from a storm triggered the incident+authorities and OSHA are now investigating and work remains suspended.  WFTV 9

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Signs at The Avenue Viera show Michael’s is closing and a building permit for a Trader Joe’s interior renovation is under review, but Trader Joe’s has not confirmed plans for the space—officials said they will update the public when a decision is made.  Florida Today
  • SpaceX will launch the SXM-10 satellite for SiriusXM from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station using a Falcon 9 rocket. The launch window opens at 11:19 p.m. June 6 until 3:48 a.m. June 7—scattered showers and thunderstorms with a 60% chance may affect the launch while SiriusXM reported about 33 million subscribers and $1.6 billion in revenue this quarter.  Florida Today

CRIME NEWS

  • Last Thursday, someone broke into the Women’s Center of Brevard County on Aurora Road in Melbourne, causing up to $30,000 in damage that included furniture pushed through walls—police are now investigating the incident while the center seeks donations for repairs.  News 6

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to Nov 30 and NOAA and Colorado State University have predicted an above-average season. NOAA says there will be 13 to 19 named storms (6 to 10 hurricanes and 3 to 5 major) as forecasters brace for strong weather.  FOX 35 Orlando
