  • A SpaceX rocket launch today at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station has been delayed twice — scrubs on Tuesday and Wednesday postponed the planned 6:05 p.m. liftoff. A Globalstar mission is scheduled to launch Monday, May 18 from the same facility.  Florida Today

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Olympia Outten survived a five-hour ordeal in the Atlantic after a small plane crashed off the Brevard coast Tuesday — she and other passengers were rescued by the 920th Rescue Wing and treated at Holmes Regional Medical Center.  Hometown News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Three juvenile green sea turtles were released at Lori Wilson Park after months of rehabilitation at the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center by the East Coast Zoological Foundation. The release marks ongoing local conservation efforts.  Florida Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NASA is preparing for Artemis III, a crewed mission from Kennedy Space Center that will test Orion’s docking with commercial landers from SpaceX and Blue Origin — scheduled for no earlier than late 2027 to refine systems for future lunar landings.  Space Coast Daily
  • Florida State Parks will offer free day-use admission from May 23 to May 25, though fees apply for overnight stays and special events. U.S. residents will also receive free entry to national parks on Memorial Day, May 25.  Florida Today

  • Today, Health First’s four Brevard County hospitals participated in Operation Skyfall, a mass casualty drill designed to test emergency room readiness during busy spring break (with over 2,000 simulated patients and support from more than 100 partner agencies).  Hometown News
