  • BJ’s Wholesale Club extended hours at its Merritt Island and Melbourne locations, letting local drivers fill up at prices 20 cents lower than competitors; the club now opens until 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 9 p.m. on Sunday.  Florida Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Community members, business leaders, and education advocates gathered today at the Brevard Schools Foundation luncheon to support local public education — with partners like NASA and Delaware North stressing the impact of resources on 70,000 students and 4,800 teachers.  Space Coast Daily

  • On April 27, more than 224 golfers and community members gathered at Suntree Country Club to set a record by raising $500,872 for Health First Aging Services that provides free support for aging families, with sponsors including Gilbane Building and W and J Construction helping local residents.  Space Coast Daily

  • Eastern Florida State College sophomore pitcher Parker Trowbridge was named FCSAA Division I Pitcher of the Week after a dominant outing at Bruce Bochy Field on Saturday, pitching a complete game that allowed one hit (he struck out eight) in a win over St. Petersburg College.  Space Coast Daily
