ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 16-year-old riding an electric scooter was struck on Aurora Road near the intersection of Vickers Drive (April 25) by a 63-year-old pickup truck driver who could not avoid the collision, and he was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children where he remains in stable condition as the Florida Highway Patrol investigates the crash.  Florida Today

  • On April 28, a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket launched 27 Kuiper satellites from Cape Canaveral, delivering them into orbit for Amazon’s broadband project aimed at helping underserved areas. The launch is the first of about 80 planned missions+ Amazon said it will begin service to customers later this year.  Florida Today

  • Patrick Space Force Base is boosting its security measures to meet new antiterrorism guidelines as launch activity grows since the Space Force began in 2019.   • Florida residents must get a REAL ID by May 7 if they plan to fly or enter federal facilities. First-time applicants must visit a DMV + tax collector's office with the required documents to verify their identity and residency.  Florida Today
  • Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Florida's longest Gulf red snapper season will run for 126 days starting Memorial Day weekend. The season applies to private and charter vessels with a daily limit of two fish and includes summer and fall segments — featuring holiday fishing days for Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.  Florida Today

  • More Florida cities—including Melbourne and Palm Bay—are stopping the addition of fluoride in their drinking water after Florida’s Surgeon General warned that women and children may face health risks.
