  • Melbourne’s Hurricane Creek Saloon was transformed to Neon Rodeo by 'Bar Rescue' on April 18; hundreds gathered outside as host Jon Taffer addressed the crowd—an exclusive group entered the bar—while the venue prepares to appear in an upcoming episode.  Florida Today
  • United Launch Alliance has rescheduled Amazon’s Project Kuiper launch for April 28th. The Atlas V rocket will lift off from Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 7 p.m. carrying 27 satellites—the heaviest payload flown by the rocket—as part of a plan to deploy over 3,200 satellites for high-speed internet.  Florida Today
  • Blue Origin launched its New Glenn rocket from Cape Canaveral on Jan. 16 after spending over a billion dollars to renovate the launch site, and the company will return to flight late spring — planning future missions for NASA and Project Kuiper.   • Platinum Coast Orchid Society will hold its 60th Annual Orchid Show—An Orchid Jubilee—from May 2 to 4 at Kiwanis Island Park Gymnasium and Annex in Merritt Island; the event will feature classes, demonstrations, outdoor vendors, and orchid care advice while a portion of the $5 admission fee will benefit Candlelighters of Brevard, Inc.  Hometown News

  • Today, Brevard County imposed a burn ban after Palm Bay firefighters battled a vegetation fire near St. Johns Heritage Parkway and Davis Lane that sent smoke over I-95—no homes were threatened and no evacuation orders were issued.  FOX 35 Orlando

HEALTH NEWS

  • The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a health alert for pork carnitas sold at Aldi after finding that damaged equipment at Cargill Meat Solutions from April 1st to 2nd may have contaminated the meat with metal—Florida consumers who bought 16 oz sleeved tray packages with a USE BY date of June 30th or July 1st should throw it out or return them.  Florida Today
