- ➤ Brevard teacher Melissa Calhoun’s contract was not renewed after she repeatedly called a student by their preferred name without parental consent, and about 60 supporters rallied on April 18 to back her. Community members will gather again April 22 at 4:30 p.m. before the school board meeting—while the district awaits a state decision on her teaching certificate. Florida Today

- ➤ Some misinformation on social media recently cast doubt on the Melbourne Beach Vol. Fire Dept, and at a February 5 Town Commission Workshop Fire Chief Gavin Brown explained that the department will adjust its staffing model to a hybrid system—adding a few paid staff members to supplement volunteers. - ➤ Over 125 Florida business, academic and civic leaders signed a letter urging the congressional delegation to relocate NASA headquarters from Washington, D.C. to Kennedy Space Center, saying the move would boost local jobs, lower operational costs, and strengthen the state’s aerospace sector + enhance national competitiveness. Voepel’s pain management clinic on U.S.1 was restricted from performing injections after three patients contracted a rare hepatitis C strain possibly from unsterilized instruments.
