- ➤ Students at Satellite High School rallied at dismissal Thursday in support of teacher Melissa Calhoun, whose 11 years ended after her contract was not renewed because she called a student by the name they preferred without written permission — a decision made after a parent complaint. - ➤ Starting April 16, Florida law will require a permit to remove bats from homes, barns or sheds during the bat maternity season—which lasts through August 14—to ensure young bats are not trapped inside.
