  • SpaceX launched 21 Starlink satellites from Kennedy Space Center last night at 9:54 p.m.—13 of which offer Direct to Cell capabilities. A backup window remained open until today at 1:43 a.m.—another option will begin at 9:15 p.m. if needed.  FOX 35 Orlando
  • SpaceX is planning to launch 21 Starlink satellites today at 9:54 p.m. EDT from Kennedy Space Center Pad 39A—weather is forecast to be 95% favorable with backup opportunities available until 1:43 a.m.  Florida Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at Satellite High School rallied at dismissal Thursday in support of teacher Melissa Calhoun, whose 11 years ended after her contract was not renewed because she called a student by the name they preferred without written permission — a decision made after a parent complaint. A petition with over 12,000 signatures and backing from the teachers’ union followed as her contract expires in May.  News 6

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Starting April 16, Florida law will require a permit to remove bats from homes, barns or sheds during the bat maternity season—which lasts through August 14—to ensure young bats are not trapped inside. Homeowners need to use approved exclusion methods to clear bats if they choose to remove them.  Florida Today
  • On Thursday, gusty winds, dry air — which helped spark red flag warnings — led to 33 wildfires burning amid a severe drought across central Florida.
