  • On Saturday night, April 5, a Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral carrying 28 Starlink satellites and its first-stage booster landed on the drone ship Just Read the Instructions — a sign of a successful mission. The next launch will happen on April 9 — a ULA Atlas V rocket will send 27 Amazon Kuiper satellites into orbit.  Florida Today

  • Jeff Abramowski’s murder conviction will be vacated based on new DNA tests that showed the hair and evidence on the murder weapon did not belong to him after 23 years in prison. His attorney said the state supports the motion — though a new trial may still be scheduled.  Florida Today

  • Merritt Island outscored Melbourne Central Catholic 9 to 3 in a district lacrosse game at Merritt Island High on April 3. The win gave Merritt Island a strong advantage — their players made key plays while Melbourne Central struggled to score.  Florida Today
  • On Friday, April 4th, Melbourne Central Catholic won a 7 to 6 softball game against Rockledge when Rockledge's Kaylah Comeau hit two home runs to tie the game at 6 before a late rally by the Hustlers secured the win.   • Coaches from Brevard County public schools selected the 2024-25 All-Cape Coast Conference girls soccer team from 11 schools, and Melbourne’s Mike Lord was named girls coach of the year—his Bulldogs posted a 13-4-1 season. The team lineup features athletes such as Adriana Lord and Zoey Di Orio alongside players from Cocoa Beach, Edgewood, Titusville, Viera, Space Coast, Rockledge, Bayside, Satellite, and Merritt Island.  Florida Today
