- ➤ Forecast models predict a quieter hurricane season with 4–7 hurricanes and a 65% chance of at least one U.S. landfall, so residents will need to update their hurricane plans. - ➤ Scientists from the Climate Prediction Center issued an El Niño watch with a 62% chance of development between June and August, which may lead to fewer storms this hurricane season; however, experts warn that major hurricanes may still form (the so-called ‘Jurassic El Niño’) due to strong wind shear.
