EDUCATION NEWS

  • Endeavour Elementary in Cocoa transformed a classroom into a STEM lab on March 28 using a $50,000 grant from Florida Power and Light Company — the grant provided advanced technology like 3D printers and iPads for hands-on learning. Local education officials said the project will help inspire future careers in science, technology, engineering and math.  Space Coast Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Colorado State University forecasters predict that the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season will have 17 named storms, nine hurricanes and four major hurricanes. They also expect that the chance of a major hurricane making landfall on the U.S. or in the Caribbean will be above normal - urging residents to update emergency plans and supplies.  Florida Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On April 1, 94-year-old Korean War veteran Jim Walter in Viera cast his ballot after Brevard County Constitutional Officers Tim Bobanic, Lisa Cullen, and Dana Blickley helped him get a new Florida ID—his expired driver’s license left him without valid identification. The officers later honored him with two challenge coins and a Veterans Pin to recognize his service.  Space Coast Daily
  • Brevard County officials held a zoning meeting in Viera to review proposals for changes in land-use and zoning classifications from local property owners and developers. Public hearings focused on adjustments requested for residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties.  Space Coast Daily

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health First is fast-tracking plans to build two new freestanding emergency departments to give county residents reliable 24/7 care—one site is a 13,000-square-foot, 12-bed facility at 3300 S. Fiske Blvd while a second in southern Brevard is in early planning. Health First said it will update the community as work and zoning reviews continue.  Space Coast Daily

  • Viera High School seniors Emma Hoppe and Isabel Alvarez earned All-American honors at the 2025 National High School Coaches Association High School Wrestling Nationals, finishing 5th (132lbs) and 7th (120lbs) in their weight classes. The tournament took place in Virginia Beach from March 28th to 30th.  Space Coast Daily
