  • Doc, a 22-year-old giraffe—one of the original animals in the Expedition Africa exhibit at Brevard Zoo—was euthanized when his mobility issues and age-related health problems worsened despite treatment.  Florida Today

  • On March 25th, Brevard County deputies rescued an 84-year-old man lost in a marsh and took him to a hospital after providing medical care—collaboration with other agencies helped locate him.  FOX 35 Orlando

BUSINESS NEWS

  • SpaceX is asking for approval to increase Falcon 9 launches at Cape Canaveral from 50 to 120 missions each year and to build a booster landing zone at SLC-40, according to an FAA Draft Environmental Assessment released on March 14. A virtual meeting is scheduled for April 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST, and public comments will be accepted until April 24.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • On March 21st in Titusville, the community gathered at Space View Park to honor Ozzie Osband, whose work secured the 321 area code that defined our Space Coast.   • On Monday, a 63-year-old woman from Orlando reported waiting over two hours on the phone for Social Security help and being turned away when an appointment was required. The Melbourne office off 4740 Dairy Road is set to close on May 16 while new online service requirements begin on March 31—changes that critics say may hurt vulnerable customers.  News 6
