EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today many Florida schools are on spring break as most counties, including Brevard County, close classes for the week of March 17—21. Some counties began on March 14 while others will have their break in April before the school year ends.  Florida Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Florida residents are urged to prepare for the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30. Early forecasts call for 15 tropical storms, seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes, and officials advise checking shutters and gathering supplies—steps that help protect homes after an active 2024 that saw three hurricanes.  Florida Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore launched on June 5th from Cape Canaveral and spent over nine months on the International Space Station. Today they will undock and return to Earth on a SpaceX Dragon capsule with a splashdown expected at around 5:57 p.m.  Florida Today
  • Two astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams return to Earth today aboard the SpaceX Dragon Freedom after a nine-month stay on the ISS that was extended due to a thruster malfunction on their Starliner mission. The Crew-9 spacecraft undocks at 1:05 a.m. and will splash down at 5:57 p.m. — with NASA set to update the public at 7:30 p.m.  Florida Today
