  • The Space Coast Strawberry Festival held its Berry Cute Baby Contest on Saturday at Space Coast Daily Park in Viera, where 18 babies aged three and under competed in two divisions for awards such as Best Eyes, Best Smile, and Best Strawberry Outfit — winners included babies like Lena, Evie, and Juliette. More events continue today, March 16, with additional contest opportunities starting at 10 a.m. — participants can enjoy family fun at the ongoing festival.  Space Coast Daily
  • Downtown Melbourne hosted its 35th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 16th where huge crowds cheered the Space Coast Highlanders bagpipe and drum band during a three-day downtown festival. The event was organized by the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Brevard and Meg O’Malley’s Irish Pub.  Florida Today

  • Homeowners in Melbourne must remove bats from attics and barns by April 15—when it will be illegal to seal them out using exclusion devices during mating season. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission warns that failing to act may lead to property damage and disease spread—so proper removal methods or expert help are advised.  Florida Today

  • Nurse Practitioner Joy Cruz found a whooshing sound in Fred Gynan’s neck artery—this led to fast tests and treatment by Dr. Roger Moccia who cleared a dangerous blockage. Fred now follows a healthier lifestyle with ongoing care from Health First.  Space Coast Daily

  • John Reynolds, who earned 606 wins in 38 seasons for Florida Tech women’s basketball, retired today in Melbourne — ending a long career on the court. Florida Tech will begin a national search for a new coach — to lead the team next season.  Space Coast Daily
  • Palm Bay High School girls basketball team won the Class 4A state title game over American Heritage — marking their first state championship in school history — in a hard-fought contest that capped years of strong play.  Florida Today
  • Billy Stein (drafted in the fourth round in 1969) played 14 MLB seasons for teams including the Cardinals, Mariners, White Sox and Rangers after honing his skills in Cocoa local leagues (Little League, Babe Ruth, Legion Ball and Connie Mack) and at Cocoa High. He made his MLB debut on September 6th, 1972 and hit a home run in his first game.  Space Coast Daily
