- ➤ NASA astronaut Winston Scott was interviewed on Space Coast Daily at 5 p.m. today to preview Artemis II, set to launch in March. He recalled his previous Space Shuttle missions and lauded local teams—crucial to keeping the region involved in NASA's space exploration. Space Coast Daily
- ➤ Brevard County Commission banned open burning including campfires and trash burning after recent freezes, little rain, and a 140-acre vegetation fire near Palm Bay increased drought risk. The ban excludes state-approved prescribed burns and barbecue grills (which stay allowed). Florida Today
- ➤ NASA and SpaceX will launch the Crew-12 mission from Cape Canaveral (Launch Pad 40) on Friday, Feb. 13 at 5:15 a.m. ET. Four international astronauts, including two Americans, will head to the International Space Station for a nine-month assignment after last month's mission was medically evacuated. Florida Today
- ➤ After rescuers freed a 400 lb. manatee that got trapped in a storm drain, Melbourne Beach is weighing fixes such as drain grates & other protections to prevent future incidents. The new town manager said on Monday that wildlife officials will guide the choice of protection measures. News 6
