  • SpaceX is constructing launch pads for its Starship rockets at Kennedy & Cape Canaveral with test flights planned for late summer or fall. Space Force Col. Brian Chatman called the project 'the year of the giants,' highlighting a major push to boost cargo launches.  Florida Today
  • SpaceX launched 29 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Thursday night at 11:01 p.m. ET using a Falcon 9 booster that aimed to land on the droneship Just Read the Instructions in the Atlantic Ocean.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • Field Manor will host its Founders’ Day fundraiser on Apr. 4 at the historic site on Merritt Island, drawing nearly 600 visitors for music, food, guided tours, and other community activities (including original Field family homes) to preserve early Florida heritage.   • Brevard Public Schools will cut each department's staffing by 7% for the 2026-2027 school year due to declining enrollment, with nonclassroom positions cut first while classroom roles remain if student numbers are sufficient (teacher union assures contractual rights).  Florida Today

  • On January 28, FWRI’s Sea Turtle Stranding Team rescued cold-stunned sea turtles in St. Joseph Bay after water temperatures fell below 50°F. Officials urge residents to report injured turtles (and avoid handling them) to ensure proper care for the wildlife.  Space Coast Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Four crew members for NASA’s SpaceX Crew-12 began a two-week quarantine at Johnson Space Center as they prepare for a 6 a.m. EST launch on Feb. 11 from Cape Canaveral and will travel to Kennedy Space Center on Feb. 6 for prelaunch operations.  Space Coast Daily
